Balgriffin is located on the North part of Dublin city. It lies between the suburbs of Donaghmede, Coolock, and Darndale.
Also near the more remote areas of Kinsealy, Portmarnock and Malahide to the North. Balgriffin is located near the Malahide Road, and is served by bus routes from Dublin.

St. Doulagh's Church is a well known historical building, and is located to the North of the Balgriffin. The church dates back to the medieval times, is the last stone-roofed church still working in Ireland.
St Doulagh's is a Church of Ireland Anglican church these days. Balgriffin is part of a combined Roman catholic parish with Donaghmede.
There are two cemeteries in Balgriffin, the oldest one in to the West, and the other more recent one in in the Eastern part of the Hamlet., There is also a pub, and several businesses.
Belcamp College was a large school but has closed and the large grounds were sold for construction development.
The construction development will see in excess of two thousand homes, a mixture of houses and apartments.
Also a Hilton Hotel was built the North of the border with Darndale, along with apartments.
