Ballyfermot is a suburb of Dublin city, Ireland.Ballyfermot is situated approximately four and a half miles (7km) to the West of Dublin city centre.
Phoenix Park is located to the South. Chapelizod is bordered to the North, and to the South by Walkinstown.
The River Liffey is situated to the North, and the Grand Canal to the South.
Ballyfermot is a National Commercial Distribution centre, with simple access to the national trunk roads.
Ballyfermot is close to the N4 motorway to the North, and by the N7 to the South.
The M50 motorway is to the West. There is also easy access to the city centre. There are several major Irish motor distributors housed in Ballyfermot.
The area is served by Dublin Bus (routes 78, 78A, 79, 79A) and many more.
A train service (hourly service) is provided by Irish Rail, to Kingsbridge.
Cherry Orchard/ParkWest Station is the local station, which is situated on the western border of Ballyfermot.
The Dublin Metro route passes through the South. Ballyfermot is also served by the Luas light rail system. The stop on the South side is close to the Kylemore, and Naas Road intersection.
