CLONTARF

Clontarf is a coastal suburb on the North part of Dublin, in Ireland. It is mostly known for giving the name to the Battle of Clontarf, back in ten forteen. The battle which the high King of Ireland (Brian Boru), defeated the Viking invaders.

Clontarf is nowadays a seaside suburb of Dublin, situated on the Dublin to Howth road. It is one stop on the DART, from Dublin city, and is a pretty village with the majority of the roads leading down to the sea.

Clontarf is situated on one side of the estuary, of one of three main rivers of Dublin. Naniken River and the River Tolka, runs to the sea at Raheny.

St Anne's Park is one of largest parks in Dublin, and lies between Raheny and Clontarf.

The Bull Island, also shared with Raheny, is joined to Clontarf by a wooden bridge.

Clontarf used to be a resort and fishing village for people from the city, about the time that the Vernon family were the major land owners of Clontarf.

Bull island is a popular spot for swimming and picnics, past the road bridge.
