COOLOCK, DUBLIN
Coolock is a large suburban area, located in a village, on the North side of Dublin city. The river Santry crosses through Coolock, and is an important feature in the middle of the area, with a park and ponds.
Coolock was a small village until the nineteen fifties, when it started to be developed as part of Dublin city's suburbs.
The area near the village was being further developed over time, especially the Kilmore West and Bonnybrook areas.
The old village was located at Malahide Road at one time, but that road was slightly moved, and now goes through to the East of Coolock village.
Along with other big suburban areas like Swords and Tallaght, there is no legal definition for Coolock.
Therefore the population numbers are not definitive, yet still Coolock is one of the biggest urban areas of Dublin.
