MARINO, DUBLIN
Marino is a suburb of Dublin city in Ireland. It is located about two kilometres from Dublin, on the North side of the city, with other areas including Clontarf, Fairview and Donnycarney.
The Marino area was developed for housing back in the nineteen twenties and thirtees. It was the land that used to be owned by Earl of Charlemont. It was one of the first of the new Irish State affordable housing projects.
The marino area had approximately twelve hundred houses built mostly with concrete, which was rare building material at that time in Ireland. The houses were constructed by a contractor who used a number of immigrant German builders and labourers.
