WICKLOW MOUNTAINS
The Wicklow Mountainsare a range of mountains located near Dublin, in the South East of Ireland.
The mountains run from South county Dublin, to County Wicklow. The National Park in the Wicklow Mountains was established by the irish government, back in nineteen ninety one. It is maintained by the National parks and wildlife service.
This area is very popular with both dubliners and tourists, especially on the weekends. The area has a large choice of interests including, walking, fishing and rafting.
The National Park covers a lot of upland Wicklow, and the size of the area is nearly fifty thousand acres. This park has large areas of mountain blanket bogs, including the Liffey Head Bog complexes, Glendalough Wood Nature Reserve and ugnaquilla.
The National Park protects the landscape and the wildlife, including rare flowers and the Peregrine Falcon. Wicklow Mountains National Park runs various activities for individuals and groups and of all ages. Activities are free and include workshops, nature walks, lectures and field trips.
